漢語口語稱滯銷商品為“冷門貨”而暢銷商品叫“熱門貨' 說起“暢銷”，翻譯者最易聯(lián)想到“暢銷書”即“best-sellers”，其實，通譯“暢銷書”的“best-sellers”這個詞，指的不僅僅是“書”而已，而是“最暢銷的商品”。
漢語“熱門貨”亦即“熱銷品”如譯成英語，不妨逐字譯成“hot-seller”。這 “hot-seller”并非筆者杜撰，而是漢語“熱銷品”在英語中天然的對應(yīng)詞。所謂“天然”是指其在英語實踐中之客觀存在——不是哪一位譯者的人工創(chuàng)造：
Among this season's hot sellers were timesaving microwave ovens and keep-warm items like sweaters and down jackets.

不但如此，還有由“hot- seller”逆生的“hot- selling”(“熱銷”)呢：
The hot-selling pot-bellied bear

當然，這只是一種譯法，完全可以有旁的譯法，如從下例來看，“熱銷品”亦可譯作“big- sellers”:
