索賠信是一方的不當(dāng)行為或違反合同給另一方造成了損失,受損失方提出賠償要求。索賠信的起因跟投訴信的起因類似,只是問題較嚴(yán)重,需要提出索賠。通常索賠發(fā)生在抱怨之后。經(jīng)買賣雙方查實(shí)后,確定理賠方式。索賠信通常要附上官方報(bào)告。

We refer to Sales Contract No. 578 covering the purchase of 200 tons of flour.
We telexed you on May 17 informing you that the consignment arrived on April 20. But we are compelled to lodge a claim with you for the short weight.
On inspection, we found that 180 bags had burst and that the contents estimated at 9,000 kg had been irretrievably lost. We proceeded to have a survey report made. The report has now confirmed our initial findings. The report indicates that the loss was due to the use of substandard bags for which you, the suppliers, are responsible.
On the strength of the survey report, we hereby register our claim against you as follows :
